We’re back, boi! And with this mega-blaster Public Enemy’s 1988 smash It Take’s A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back. Released on Def Jam Recordings, the album has been critically acclaimed as one of the greatest and most influential records of all time. Let’s see if it’s worthy of representing Hip Hop on the music tree. I first heard it on Zane Lowe’s show played in full as part of his Masterpieces series. I’ll save my thoughts for my review, but will say this. TURN IT UP!
Each fortnight Fran and Dave explore a new genre from the Music Tree by choosing an album to represent it. We write about the genre or artist during the fortnight, and post our reviews on Sunday.
